Social Media Policy
Last Updated: October 21, 2026
“We believe people can disagree on issues and still be professional and polite.”
That one idea drives everything below — how we post, how we answer, and how we keep the conversation on our pages worth reading. Oklahomans do not have to agree with each other to treat each other decently, and our social media is run on that assumption.
How Okies First Interacts
These are our own rules for our own accounts. We hold ourselves to them whether or not anyone is watching.
- We talk about records, votes, and issues — not about a person's looks, family, faith, or character.
- We do not post, reply with, or share vulgar, profane, or insulting language, and we do not reshare it from others.
- We name our sources, and we say out loud when something is our opinion rather than a documented record.
- When we get something wrong, we correct it publicly and quickly, in the same place we got it wrong.
- We answer questions asked in good faith. We may disagree with the premise, but we will not dodge the question or mock the person who asked it.
- We never block, mute, or silence someone simply because they disagree with us or with an endorsement.
- We are an independent, nonpartisan PAC — we do not attack anyone over their party affiliation.
How We Invite Oklahomans to Interact
Our pages are open to everyone in all 77 counties, whether you support us or not.
- Disagree with us. Argue the issue, not the person. Tell us where our facts are thin and where our endorsement is wrong.
- Send us a correction. If we misstated a vote, a number, or a name, send the source and we will fix it.
- Ask us anything. If your question is one other people are also asking, we will answer it publicly so everyone sees the same answer.
- Share, quote, and tag us. You do not need our permission to quote a public post, and you do not need to agree with us to be here.
The Filters on Every Okies First Account
Every official Okies First account — Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube — runs word and phrase filters on comments.
These filters hold back or hide comments that use vulgar language, slurs, or unkind words aimed at any person. The goal is simple: anyone should be able to read our comments — including a teacher, a veteran, a parent, or a kid looking over a shoulder — without running into language that has nothing to do with the issue being discussed.
The filters are about language, not politics. They do not check your party, your ideology, or your opinion of Okies First or of any candidate. A comment that criticizes us sharply in clean language stays up.
We may also hide comments that threaten or harass someone, publish a private person's home address or personal details, impersonate another person, or push spam and unrelated links.
Filters are automated, so they are imperfect. A harmless comment can occasionally get caught, and something ugly can occasionally slip past. If your comment disappeared and you believe it did not break any of these rules, message us and we will look at it and restore it.
Adopted Filter Word List
The official list of words and phrases adopted for comment filters on our accounts.
What We Won't Do
- We will not delete or hide a comment for criticizing Okies First, our positions, or our endorsements.
- We will not use filters to target a party, a candidate, an officeholder, or a point of view.
- We will not edit your words to change what you said. If a comment cannot stay up, it comes down whole.
- We will not turn comment sections into a place where our own supporters can pile on a neighbor.
When We Step In
Most moderation is automatic. A person steps in for threats, harassment, doxxing, and repeat offenders.
When a comment cannot stay up, we take the lightest step that solves the problem:
- A hidden comment, with a message telling you why.
- A short block for someone who repeats the behavior after being told once.
- A permanent block for threats of violence, targeted harassment, publishing someone's personal information, or coordinated spam. Where a threat is credible, we report it to law enforcement.
Messages, Corrections, and Appeals
Our direct messages are open on business days, and we read them. We cannot promise a reply to every message, and we cannot give legal advice or answer questions about someone else's private information. If you are asking about our record, our endorsements, or a comment that was hidden, send it through our contact page — that inbox is the one we monitor on a schedule.
We keep this policy short on purpose, and we update it when our platforms' tools change. Any change will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. This policy covers our official accounts and our own channels; it does not apply to anyone else's page, and it does not limit anyone's right to say what they think about us somewhere else.
Okies First is an independent, nonpartisan Political Action Committee. This policy governs how we run our own social media accounts and does not restrict anyone's speech anywhere else. Paid for by Okies First Political Action Committee (FEC ID: C00925966). Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.
